It seems there was a fall in the female percentage of the workforce that was somewhat proportionate to the rise of home computers. Families are statistically more likely to buy computers for boys than girls. After the 1980s surge in computers, the areas of education were affected in that instructors had higher expectations of basic computing skill proficiency.

Hiring trends are seeing more women and people of minorities becoming a greater percentage of the workforce.

Diverse teams tend to demonstrate more intelligence and creativity. On a larger scale, diverse companies tend to fare better economically. Certain backgrounds can be an asset to adding diversity to a team. Some CEOs pursue a diverse workforce out of moral obligation to doing the right thing, for others it’s good for business.
